Embark on a Culinary Journey across the Globe.
Global Gourmet is a strategic cooking board game that takes players on a culinary journey across four regions: the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Europe. As players travel, they collect unique ingredients to complete authentic recipes from around the world. With 56 distinct ingredient cards, 40 recipes, 20 event cards, and 10 travel cards, every game offers a new and exciting challenge.
DESIGN PROCESS
When coming up with an idea for a board game, I always thought of creating a traveling game where you could explore the world. I had originally planned a game where you would travel around the world collecting country stamps in a passport, but that ultimately became too complicated. In order, to solve this problem I changed it into a culinary journey, where you can collect ingredients and still be able to travel the world but with a more interesting element. As I fleshed out my concepts all the pieces came together. I designed a color system that is easy to recognize for all ages and delightful to look at as well.
Board Game Overview
Global Gourmet is a straightforward game where players race to complete a set number of recipes first. The game features a distinct color-coded system, guiding players through four regions as they collect over 100 unique ingredient cards for their respective recipes. Travel and event cards add excitement by providing advantages and challenges, keeping gameplay dynamic and engaging.

The Box
When designing the board game box, I wanted to be creative with the relationship food and a box can get. So the first thing I thought about is crates. Food creates are used to ship and store food and ingredients and I thought it would be clever to design it that way. The label on the box is supposed to simulate a vintage crate label that people used to see back in the day. Twisting with modern elmensts like the typography I found a balance where its both modern and old at the same time
The Cards
Each card was carefully designed with great attention to detail, as all ingredient cards are hand-illustrated in Procreate. Every card showcases a unique drawing, making each one distinct. However, the Event and Travel Cards take a different approach, focusing more on typography to enhance their purpose within the game.

The Pieces
The game uses very simple pieces and tokens to make it feel more tactile and engaging. The Tiny Chef hats are the players and coordinate with each region they are trying to achieve culinary mastery in. A Cooking Token is to signify when a dish has been completed, and a Market Token takes on a trip with advantages.
